What to Expect During your Retreat at Transformations


  • A clean, quiet, and inviting place where you can be in silence – or not – according to your preference.
  • Lovely guest rooms, chapels and grounds in which to savor time away.
  • The presence of many wise women – retired Sisters of St Joseph for whom this is home.

Guest Rooms

  • Guest Rooms Furnishings: a single bed, bed side table, reclining chair, chest of drawers.
  • Bathroom:  attached private bathroom with a shower. 
  • Accessories: bed and bath linens, and local telephone service are provided. 
  • Freedom from: television, voice mail, and conversation (if you choose)


Our culinary staff prepares homestyle meals served buffet style in the dining room located on the first floor.

Buffet meals are served at the following times. Please book your meal plans prior to your arrival.


Served from 7:30 - 9am

Hot or cold cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, milk, coffee & juice are available. Buffet will also include some of the following: meat, eggs, breakfast breads, french toast or pancakes. (example: oatmeal, grilled eggs, smoky links and bagels with cream cheese)

Noon Meal 

Served from noon - 1pm

The menu changes daily and includes two entrées, starch, vegetable and dessert. (example: roast beef au jus, spaghetti w/meat & marinara sauce, mashed potatoes, beef gravy, peas with mushrooms and carrot cake) Deluxe salad bar, dessert, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, milk & lemonade

Evening Meal

Served from 5 - 6pm
Dine with the sisters from their dinner buffet, a lighter meal than lunch. The menu changes daily and includes soup, entrée and/or sandwich, vegetable and dessert. (example: chicken noodle soup, BLT sandwiches, assorted chips, potato salad and cookies) Deluxe salad bar, fresh fruit, dessert, coffee, tea, milk & lemonade

The dining room is generally closed after 6pm. Snacks, sodas, bottled water, and juices are available from vending machines in the Transformations Center on the ground floor. 

Please notify us in advance of any food sensitivities. Vegetarian options are always available on the salad bar. Meatless main dishes also rotate through the dining menu.

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Direction is available to retreatants. Please make arrangements with the Transformations staff prior to your arrival.

  • Labyrinth – a reconciliation labyrinth mown into the grasses
  • Chapels and prayer rooms
  • The Borgess Health & Fitness Center, located on the Nazareth Center campus, is available for a small fee. The Fitness Center offers medically-based fitness and wellness services, state-of-the-art equipment, a pool, whirlpool, track and health and wellness classes.
  • Nature - Walk the grounds, labyrinth or nature trails. Trail maps are available in the brochure rack at the Transformations entrance.
  • Library - Enjoy a quiet space for reading in the Quiet Area located outside the library.
  • Movies, music and audio books are available from the media library.
  • Prayer Space - Pray, meditate or reflect in the quiet of Unity Chapel. While you’re there, enjoy the artwork in the adjacent Center Walk Gallery
  • Internet Access – The internet is available via wi-fi or the guest computer.

Checking In and Out

We ask that you vacate your room and return your keys by 11am on the last day of your stay.

What to Bring

  • Clothing to dress in layers. Comfortable shoes for walking and hiking if you plan to spend some time outdoors.
  • Personal toiletries and medications
  • Outdoor shoes, clothing and other accessories for walking the trails
  • Water bottle
  • Journal, bible and other reading material
  • A device to set with an alarm, to wake in the morning if necessary
  • You may bring your cell phone, but please have it on courtesy mode while in the building

What not to bring

  • Portable radios or other audio players without earphones
  • Alcohol or drugs
  • Pets, unless certified companion dogs
  • Candles, incense or other sources of flame or spark
  • Unregistered guests

Support During Your Stay

We ask that you provide a contact name and phone number for a family member or loved one in the case of an emergency.
The reception office is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 7pm; Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 5pm and can be reached by dialing “0” from any house phone.  In addition, your hospitality coordinator will provide an emergency telephone number.  
Drug stores and general merchandise stores are nearby, and two hospitals are within five miles.


Smoking is allowed in one designated outdoor area away from the main building.

Cancellation Policy for Individual’s Retreats

If you find you are unable to make your scheduled retreat, simply call us at least two days prior to your confirmed arrival time. Your payment, less a $15 processing charge, will be refunded. No refunds or transfers of fees are available for late cancellations or no-shows. A $40 charge will be assessed for any checks not backed by sufficient funds.  (A different policy applies to group retreats.)
